It seemed to LHD that folks everywhere were yearning for creative outlets that did not lead them to feel “less than” other artists, who were industriously inundating all of our social media feeds simultaneously in an effort to “make the most” of this global pandemic. Don’t get it twisted, more power to them! But for the rest of us? “Passively anxiety-inducing” is the descriptor we’d use.

 

What people needed was a source of escapism that didn’t include Netflix and bedsores. Something therapeutic, but not too serious. But there was something else that people were yearning for above all else . . .

 

SEX! Steamy, saucy - and sometimes a little sordid - sex!

 

Of course, real sex was still out of the question, as the rigorous but entirely necessary social distancing rules mandated. However, even in times when sex just isn’t on the table, we as human beings still need to maintain healthy sexual lives. Many of us engage with our sexuality as an experience of healing, experimentation and play. It has the ability to shape the brain and invigorate the soul. Creativity and sexuality have been proven to correlate with stress reduction and innovative performance in other areas of one’s life. 

 

What could we possibly offer to this enormous audience? People were hungry for an exercise in creativity and also very horny - my god, they were horny. You see, that is where the XXX ABCs come in!

 

The adult colouring book market hit an enormous peak around 2015-2017. We imagine that sales dropped because everyone was sick of colouring in variations of the same mandala over and over again. However the therapeutic effects of these colouring book are undeniable. Colouring is one particularly enjoyable way of practicing mindfulness - yeah, that thing we’ve been told by every therapist and yogi but continue to ignore.
